Wyoming's 2020 Senior Art, Music, and Theatre Reception

Senior Cooper Kadish brought his whole family as he was recognized for his next journey as an architecture major at University of Cincinnati.

Annually, the Wyoming Art Show and the Wyoming School Music Association join together to recognize those seniors who intend to keep their passion for the arts alive after their Wyoming journey. Now in its fifth year, it was originally created as a sort of “signing day for the arts.” But like every other planned event this spring, the event was derailed. Thankfully, it was not forgotten.

Art teacher CJ Langenhop spoke to the families, who were spread out across the Village Green.

In conjunction with Station Family +BBQ and the City of Wyoming, the event was reimagined for an outdoor celebration in the summer. Twenty-four seniors were recognized for their commitment to pursuing art, music, or theatre next year.

Marlena and Lili Kottmyer were excited to attend the event where Lili was recognized for continuing her pursuit of the arts in graphic design next year at the University of Cincinnati.

The best part for the students? Seeing their beloved teachers and mentors in person – these bonds are strong – sometimes eight years in the making! Many thanks to art teachers CJ Langenhop, Carrie Smith, and Karen Gaski; music teachers Laura Coomer, Brian Potts, and Chris Dewitt; and theater director Linda Baker for coming and sharing your words of wisdom, your passion, and your time with the Class of 2020!

No WSMA event is complete without chip wheelies!  Elizabeth and Lisa Duke were on site to supply the sweet treat.

And thank you to the artists, musicians, actors, technicians, and dreamers of the Class of 2020 – best of luck on your next journey!
