Farm-to-Table Event Row by Row was a “To-Go Picnic” This Year

Historic barn at Gorman Heritage Farm. The farm provides agriculture, sustainability and environmental education opportunities.

Gorman Heritage Farm is Cincinnati’s nonprofit working farm. It is located at 10052 Reading Road in Evendale, is a 122-acre outdoor classroom and historic, working farm with a variety of year-round programs with a mission to education about agriculture, nutrition, sustainability, and the environment.

The farm is probably known best for its annual fall Sunflower Festival, but is also known this time of year for its popular fundraiser farm-to-table event known as Row to Row.

At Row to Row locals can come out to the farm and enjoy farm fresh food prepared by local restaurant chefs as well as some local entertainment. The event raises funds for farm-based education projects at the farm.

While the Corona virus pandemic has put a damper on many in-person festivities this year, including the traditional in-person sit down dinner, the folks at Gorman farm come up with an alternative that still offered a fun, festive time that included entertainment, farm animals and, of course, fresh farm-raised meals.

A past Row to Row event. This year, guests will have meals delivered to their cars and can picnic with their families on the property.

At the August 22 event, families, who have ordered ahead, were able to drive up to have their meal delivered to their cars. They were encouraged to bring blankets and their own eating gear (plates, utensils, napkins etc.) to then picnic on the farm property, enjoy the animals and some entertainment by local favorite Rickie Nye along the drive.

As part of the fundraiser, there was an ongoing auction on the farm’s website. Tickets for the event sold out fast.
