Indian Hill High School celebrates student-athletes with at-home signings

Indian Hill High School (IHHS) celebrates the 10 student-athletes who each made official their commitment to continue both their academic and athletic careers during at-home signing ceremonies this May. The student-athletes being recognized include IHHS seniors Mac Durban, Alex Galbraith, Louisa Klaserner, Alex Lindberg, Luke Lundberg, Amy Prugh, Jillian Rice, Caleb Tan, Will Taylor, and Krew Verratti.

“This was a unique celebration for both the students and their families,” said IHHS Athletic Director Matt Haskamp. “We are extremely proud of all these student-athletes have accomplished, and we can’t wait to see how they grow and develop in both academics and athletics at the collegiate level.”

Mac Durban – Baseball, Lake Erie College

Mac Durban played multiple sports during his tenure as a Brave, including baseball and basketball. He continues his sporting career with baseball at Lake Erie College this fall.

“I am so grateful for this opportunity to play baseball at the next level,” said Durban. “I want to thank my teachers, coaches, and everyone else who supported me to get this far. This means the absolute world to me and is a dream come true.”

Alex Galbraith – Track, University of South Carolina

Alex Galbraith leaves Indian Hill High School with several athletic accolades. Ohio state track and cross country meets 2020 indoor: 800 meters (sixth place); 4x800 meter relay (fifth place). 2019 outdoor: 800 meters (seventh); 4x800 meter relay (14th); 2019 cross country (37th). Academic All Ohio 2019; Track 2019 Cross Country CHL Scholar Athlete; Indian Hill Scholar Athlete (2017-2019); Track and Cross Country 2019 CHL; District and Regional Track Champion 800 meters; All Ohio recognition 2019 800 meters (outdoor track); 2020 800 meter and 4x800 meter relay (indoor); Cincinnati Enquirer All-Stars First Team 2019 800 meters; 2019 Cross Country Second Team 2019 4x800 meter relay. Galbraith will participate in track at the University of South Carolina.

“This opportunity to run at the University of South Carolina is extremely important to me and I am super excited to join the program there and work hard towards success at the collegiate level,” said Galbraith. “I think that the work ethic instilled in me during my time at Indian Hill by my teachers, Coach Savage, her assistants, and my parents will help me immensely in my future endeavors.”

Louisa Klaserner – Track and Field, Hillsdale College

Louisa Klaserner was a two-time First Team All-City in 100-meter hurdles, a state-qualifier in 60 and 100-meter hurdles, Indoor State Champion in the 4x400 meter relay 2019, and CHL Champion in the long jump and 100-meter hurdles during her tenure at Indian Hill High School. She will run track and field at Hillsdale College.

“Through Indian Hill Athletics, I've learned the importance of dedication, hard work, humility, and doing what it takes to help the team succeed,” said Klaserner.

Alex Lindberg – Football, Case Western Reserve University

Alex Lindberg was a First Team All CHL in football; First Team All CHL in baseball; Honorable Mention All-City in baseball; and the Brian Sheard Memorial Award Scholar Athlete Award all four years he attended Indian Hill High School. He will play football for Case Western Reserve University this fall.

“Indian Hill has prepared me greatly for college by challenging me both in the classroom and on the field,” said Lindberg. “I feel extremely confident that I will be able to succeed at the next level because of my time here.”

Luke Lundberg – Football, University of Cincinnati

Luke Lundberg played both football and soccer for Indian Hill High School. Lundberg holds the school record for the longest field goal of 48 yards and most field goals in a career with 29. In football, he earned Academic All Southwest, Scholar Athlete, All Southwest Team, First Team All-League, Second Team All-league, All Ohio Honorable Mention, All Ohio Third Team, All-Decade Team Division (III-VI). Lundberg was a multisport athlete in the same season, and in soccer was a two-time captain, 4-year starter, Scholar Athlete, three-time Southwest First Team, two-time Southwest Ohio, four-time All-League player, and All City as a senior. He will play football this fall for the University of Cincinnati.

“I am thankful for the opportunity to continue to play in front of my community for another four years,” said Lundberg. “I’d like to thank my parents and coaches for helping prepare me to be a Bearcat.”

Amy Prugh – Track and Cross Country, Rhodes College

Amy Prugh was All-Ohio, First Team All-Region, First Team All-District, and a CHL Scholar Athlete while she was a Brave. Prugh will be a part of the track and cross country team at Rhodes College.

“I have always wanted to continue my career in college and Indian Hill allowed me to not only be prepared as a student-athlete, but also academically for all the challenges and success I hope to have in college,” said Prugh.

Jillian Rice – Swimming, Oakland University

Jillian Rice was a three-time MVP and four-time Varsity Letter athlete while at Indian Hill High School. Rice earned the Captains Award, Cincinnati Enquirer First Team, Cincinnati Enquirer Second Team, CHL First Team, and was a Friends of the Classic Scholarship Recipient. Rice will swim at Oakland University.

“I would like to thank all of the coaches, officials, and swimmers from Ohio Swimming that created a competitive, passionate, and welcoming environment for me to be a part of,” said Rice. “The relationships and memories that I created on the pool deck are what drove me to be the swimmer and person I am today. I will miss being a part of the big Ohio Swimming family, but I can't wait for the next four as a Golden Grizzly!”

Caleb Tan – Soccer, Case Western Reserve University

Caleb Tan was All American First Team; All-State Great Lakes Region Team; two-time First Team Southwest; two-time Cincinnati Player of the Year; First Team All-League; and two-time League Player of the Year while at Indian Hill High School. Tan will play soccer for Case Western Reserve University.

“I chose CWRU because it was the perfect balance of academics and athletics for me where I can best prepare myself for the future while also continue to play the sport I love for the next four years,” said Tan.

Will Taylor – Swimming, Amherst College

Will Taylor’s IHHS resume is impressive: three-time All City; two-time CHL Swimmer of the Year; 2020 State Champion 200 free relay; and the 2019 team MVP during his amazing tenure as a Brave. Taylor will swim at Amherst College.

“I’m extremely grateful for the education this school has given me and the values of hard work and perseverance that every faculty member instills in their students,” said Taylor.

Krew Verratti – Soccer, Duke University

Krew Verratti leaves Indian Hill High School with several impressive accolades, including: Second Team All-State, First Team All-CHL; First Team Southwest; and he was awarded the William Roessler Minturn Award. Verratti will play soccer for Duke University.

“This opportunity is surreal,” said Verratti. “If you would've told me as a freshman that I would be enrolling at Duke University to play soccer, I would've never believed you. I would've never achieved this great feat without the people and environment at Indian Hill High School. The administrators were always there for me in any way possible, and my peers pushed me academically and athletically to reach my full potential.”
