New Communications Intern, "Bentlee", the Golden Retriever-mix service dog and handler Alyson Valenzueala. |
The youngest intern on record has joined Redwood: Two-year-old Bentlee – a Golden Retriever-mix service dog. Carol Serrone, director of philanthropy for the Northern Kentucky special needs facility, made the announcement last month.
Bentlee is joined by Alyson Valenzuela, a 21-year-old native of Granville, Ohio. The dynamic duo will be wearing many hats at Redwood.
“Alyson – and Bentlee – will work closely with the director of philanthropy, events coordinator, public relations coordinator, volunteer coordinator and the special event and marketing committees to launch and promote Redwood’s special events, programs and services and volunteerism,” says Serrone. “The internship is funded by a grant from the Scripps Howard Foundation, and Redwood is very grateful for their long-term support of our mission.”
Valenzuela, a communications and public relations major at the University of Cincinnati, will support the coordination and promotion of Redwood’s special events, including the Redwood Express, the premier fundraiser that attracts hundreds of guests to raise more than $90,000 in support for children and adults with special needs.
This year’s event is set for Friday, March 6th at Paul Brown Stadium.
“I’m excited to be part of Redwood,” says Valenzuela, a 2017 graduate of Granville High School. “There seems to be something always going on.”
