On your mark, get set, go – the preschoolers raced around the Wyoming High School track for a great cause -- a super hero themed 1K fun run to raise money for the Freestore Food Bank |
On Sunday, October 13, preschoolers and their families and friends, and the staff from Lads and Lassies Community Preschool dressed up in their super hero finest and did what all good super heroes do…they helped people!
They used their kid power and raised over $2,800 for the Freestore Food Bank’s Power Pack Program and the preschool. The Power Pack Program provides food to children in need over weekends and during the summer.
The children accomplished this amazing feat through a Save the Day 1K Fun Run. Students asked friends and family to sponsor them as they ran laps around the big track at Wyoming High School. First, the announcer (Jeff King, voice of The Wyoming Cowboys) announced each runner. Everyone ran the first two laps together (approx. 1K) then children were cheered on as they ran more laps on their own. A crepe paper finish line was pulled across the track for each runner to break through.
Big smiles were abundant and hopefully seeds of compassion for helping people in need were planted. Kid power is definitely SUPER!
