Indian Hill Resident to be co-chair YWCA Annual Awards Luncheon on May 6

Hamilton County Coroner Dr. Lakshmi Sammarco

By Staff Writer

YWCA Greater Cincinnati will host its 41st annual Career Women of Achievement luncheon on May 6, 2020 at the Duke Energy Convention Center. Former Career Women of Achievement Honoree Dr. Lakshmi Sammarco will serve as event co-chair for the 2020 event along with former honoree Debbie Hayes.

The Career Women of Achievement Awards recognize outstanding women at the pinnacle of their careers.

According to Dr. Sammarco, “My interest in the YWCA began with investigating the deaths of victims of domestic violence. The horrors they face daily and the fear and shame should they be discovered are only overshadowed by the physical and emotional wounds they suffer. I have observed firsthand the critical role the YWCA has played in not just saving the lives of so many victims but preparing them for the healing process and helping them move forward. In 2015, the Coroner’s Masquerade Ball raised funds specifically for the domestic violence programs. But this is an ongoing need as many more victims are discovered every day. I am humbled and honored to co-chair this year’s luncheon with the incomparable Debbie Hayes, who makes the patient’s experience at the Christ Hospital a priority, as my own mother has experienced.”
