Fort Thomas Independent Schools was once again recognized as
the #1 ranked school district in the Commonwealth of Kentucky, according to a
comprehensive analysis of school districts across the United States that was
published on Niche.com.
The top ranking reflects not only the exceptional academic
achievement of students in the five Fort Thomas schools, but considers other
key factors such as teachers, health and safety, food, college prep,
administration, resources and facilities, diversity, clubs and activities, and
sports.
The study evaluated 168 school districts across Kentucky.
“We are so thrilled for and proud of the wonderful people
that make up our school community in Fort Thomas for such a distinguished
honor," said Dr. Karen Cheser, Superintendent of the Fort Thomas
Independent Schools.
"This is a special place filled with hard workers and
high achievers. Niche.com encompasses
all of our accolades, social media and reviews, so a top ranking in Kentucky
truly could not have happened without everyone's contribution: teachers,
students and our entire community.”
Cheser said that Fort Thomas Independent Schools is fully
committed to developing the whole person, as evidenced by the creation and
implementation of "Portrait of a Graduate".
These competencies--Courageous Leader, Empathetic
Collaborator, Global Communicator, Curious and Critical Thinker and Creative
Problem Solver--are points of emphasis both in and out of the classroom and are
designed to prepare students to flourish after graduation.
Niche.com recognized the Fort Thomas Independent Schools as
an elite performer in the United States as well, scoring FTIS in the top two
percent nationally (165 out of 10,782) in "Best School Districts in the
United States."
