Junior Woman’s Club Celebrates a Successful Year at May Buffet

The Junior Woman's Club of Wyoming closed out its program year at their annual May Buffet, held on the evening of May 16 at the Wyoming Civic Center. This year's theme was "Wonder Women of Wyoming". In addition to the members, the group invited representatives from all of the organizations that would be receiving grants to attend. The JWC had a record setting year. They saw a 20.5% increase in volunteer hours, and a 13.56% increase in funds raised for organizations throughout Wyoming and the Greater Cincinnati area. This translates to 2,014 volunteer hours and $24,393.43 which was dispensed as grants to the following organizations:

The City of Wyoming's Recreation Department
    The Wyoming Fine Arts Center
    The Wyoming Fire Department
The Friends of the Public Library
    Our Daily Bread
    Heartfelt Tidbits
Pets in Need of Greater Cincinnati
    WordPlay
    Valley Interfaith Community Resource Center
    Women Helping Women
    Sweet Cheeks Diaper Bank
    Bethany House Services
    CHECK Foster Care Center
    Caracole
    Wyoming Primary Schools

The group was also pleased to announce that they were able to grant not one, but two college scholarships to Wyoming High School Seniors. Anna Oestreich and Emma Melvin were the winners of this year's scholarships, and both women attended the reception.

Representatives from all the worthy organizations that received money from JWC gathered for a photo at the annual May Buffet.

The women of Junior Woman’s Club volunteered over 2000 hours in the last year to make Wyoming and Cincinnati a better place for all of us.
