OUTFIT ACTIVE Celebrates One Year Anniversary

Owner Alex George is on the Go!

By Julie Isphording

Tucked in between Castle House and Cock and Bull in Hyde Park Square is a little boutique that delivers fun, flattering, fashion forward activewear that can stand up to the demands of a workout, the rigors of daily life and everything in between.

And so can its beautiful owner Alex George.

Alexandra George, owner of Outfit Active in Hyde Park Square

Outfit Active is celebrating its first anniversary in style - active style.  George has been the sole force behind the store concept. “I love when people walk in the store and they’re in awe of the style and brands. But even better is seeing women leave the store excited to live well and stay active.”
I loved being in her store and listening to her thoughts.  I hope you do, too.

What are the highlights of the year for you - best parts?
Seeing people in complete awe of all the different styles when they walk in the door.  Actually, even better than that is seeing women leave the store excited to live well and stay active (and then coming back later telling me how much they love the quality and the style of their purchases).

What were the biggest challenges?
Figuring out what people in Cincinnati are ready for in active fashion.  How far can I push the envelope? The challenge is finding those black, grey or white pieces that still have a bit of an edge to them. I dedicate a lot of time to showcase the best and bring practical, contemporary styles designed to be both functional yet fashionable.

What surprised you the most?
How diverse everyone is when it comes to what they like to wear when they are working out and/or hanging out.

What inspired you to open your own store?
In all honesty, I wasn’t sure I wanted to open my own store when I left my previous job.  But eventually I put it all together – the fact that the fitness and wellness industry was continuing to boom with no signs of slowing down; recognizing the always on-the-go lifestyle so many people lead; my love for all things fashion; and the gap in the Cincinnati market for unique functional active clothing.

Why Hyde Park?
This is where I grew up, and I live only a few blocks from the store.  It is a great neighborhood with all different age groups.

What distinguishes you from other stores?
I believe I’ve created a concept like nothing else in Cincinnati - premium women’s active wear they feel comfortable and confident in.  I don’t care if you just took your first yoga class, if you are an athlete who competes in marathons or if you don’t know much about working out.

Now that you have passed the year mark, what are your dreams for next year?
I want to continue to bring great activewear to my clients and provide a place where everyone feels welcome, and build on my online store to reach more people.
