The attractive decor of Asiana |
Hyde Park’s newly re-opened Asiana Thai and Sushi restaurant is truly a love story.
The restaurant’s new owners, Jay and Toey Holmes, believe they were brought together by divine providence when Jay’s sister met Toey on a flight to California and suggested she meet her brother.
The two encountered each other for the first time at Asiana, where Toey was waitressing, four years ago, and two years later, the restaurant was the setting for Jay’s proposal to Toey.

Toey hails from Surin, Thailand. Jay is Korean by birth and was adopted at the age of 7 by parents in Oregon. He has been in the Cincinnati area since he was 10. Jay says he found his “soulmate” in his new wife.
For years Toey had dreamt of owning a restaurant. With Jay’s support, they purchased Asiana in September 2017 and opened the restaurant a month later. On January 1st of this year they had their official Grand Opening, and Jay says the place has been hopping ever since.

Over the past few months the couple has renovated the interior to offer an elegant Thai décor infused with a Japanese flair. Purple is Toey’s favorite color, and splashes of it adorn the interior and highlight the new exterior awning and sign.
Asiana, located on Edwards Road near its intersection with Hyde Park Street, is the only Asian establishment in the vicinity of the restaurant-packed Rookwood Exchange. Asiana proudly serves authentic traditional Thai food made by two Thai chefs, Jon and Nid, and Japanese sushi dishes prepared by Kase, a Japanese chef with 40 years of experience in crafting sushi.

As the business manager, Toey uses her warm personality to provide her customers with top-notch service and to ensure they enjoy their meals. Jay, with a career in the diamond industry, spends much of his day helping Toey meet the restaurant’s goals of providing exceptional service, great food and a clean environment, and amassing excellent reviews.
Jay says the couple is enthused about “classy” Hyde Park and excited to focus on serving the neighborhood. Asiana also has a vigorous catering schedule, both in conjunction with the corporate catering site, ezcater.com, and locally for such clients as Crossroads Church.
