January Community Announcements

Wyoming Women’s Club January 8 and February 5
On Monday, January 8 at 11:30 a.m., the Wyoming Woman's Club will host a luncheon at the Wyoming Civic Center. Speakers Lisa Nolan, executive director of Dress for Success, and John Keuffer III, director of Valley Interfaith Community Resource Center, will address how their organizations address needs in the community. WWC supports both of these worthwhile organizations.  WWC will also introduce its 2017 scholarship recipient, Caroline Theile. On Monday, February 5 at 11:30 a.m., the Wyoming Woman's Club will host a luncheon at the Wyoming Civic Center. Blake Robison, Artistic Director of Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, will present "Live Theatre Can Educate, Connect, and Inspire."  Cincinnati's theatrical gem, Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, is set to be razed and rebuilt following the 2018-19 season.  The new theater will feature vast improvements to the audience experience, production capability, and community engagement.  Blake Robison will give a look behind the curtain on plans and progress, as well as preview the season's shows.  The cost of the luncheon is $16.  For reservations, email WWC100years@gmail.com by Monday, January 29.  For additional information, call Andi Stewart at 931-9218.

Prime Time: “Ringing in the Verdin Bell Story” January 17
Suzanne Sizer will present “Ringing in the Verdin Bell Story” on January 17 as a part of Prime Time. Prime Time (for ages 55+) is offered monthly (normally the third Wednesday) at Friendship United Methodist Church, 1023 Springfield Pike. All seniors are welcome to attend. Lunch is served in Thomas Family Hall at 11:30 a.m. for $6/per person. Lads and Lassies Community Preschool Open House January 22
You are invited to an Open House at Lads and Lassies Community Preschool (located in the Presbyterian Church of Wyoming, 225 Wyoming Avenue), on Monday evening, January 22 from 7:00 p.m.-.8:00 p.m. Tour the classrooms and art studio, meet the staff, and learn more about our program! Registration for new families will begin at 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 25.

“WWI: Southwest Ohio Journeys” January 25
Wyoming Historical Society is proud to present Cheri Brinkman, local historian, author, and college educator, as she presents “WWI:  Southwest Ohio Journeys” on Thursday, January 25 at 7:00 p.m. This program celebrates the 100th anniversary of the United States entrance into WWI. Photos and historic documents will be included in the presentation to make the history of this event come to life through the experiences of local people. Join us to be in touch with your Southwest Ohio Heritage in World War I. 
Cheri Brinkman’s new book will be available for purchase. All Wyoming Historical Society programs take place at Wyoming Presbyterian Church, Great Room. We welcome all ages to our free programs. Refreshments will be served.

Wyoming Winter Music Festival February 9
The Wyoming School Music Association will host the Fifth Annual Wyoming Winter Music Festival - for one night only - on Friday, February 9 from 7:00 - 10:00 p.m. at the Wyoming Fine Arts Center. Enjoy the immensely talented Wyoming High School student musicians performing in different musical genres (Singer Songwriter, Broadway, Classical, Celtic, and more!) on every floor of the Center as the adult-only guests travel from room to room to hear fabulous student performers while enjoying wine, beer, and heavy appetizers. JWC Euchre Tournament March 10
Wyoming JWC is hosting its annual Charity Euchre Tournament. The event will be held on March 10, 2018, at the Wyoming Civic Center. There will be two brackets: a competitive Tournament bracket and a fun Social bracket. Tickets may be purchased in advance via PayPal at www.jwc-wyoming.org for $30 per person or at the door for $35 per person. The doors will open at 6:00pm, registration will close at 6:45 (anyone arriving after 6:45pm will automatically be placed in the social bracket), and the first hand will be dealt at 7:00pm. Please join us for a fun evening of cards, free food, and raffles. Beer will be available for purchase.
