Cincinnati Children’s Choir: Making Music for 25 Years

Cincinnati Children’s Choir (CCC) is celebrating a milestone
anniversary: 25 years of bringing the joy of choral singing to our community’s children.

Since its’ founding in 1993 with just one choir of 22 members, the organization has grown, engaging over 15,000 children and teens locally.

As Ensemble-in-Residence at the University of Cincinnati College - Conservatory of Music, CCC now has seven resident choirs, several satellite choirs throughout Greater Cincinnati communities, and offers free programing such as the Cincinnati Choral Academy and Cincinnati Public School Honor Choir.

Youth ages 6-18 can join the choir by vocal placement auditions annually. CCC anticipates serving over 900 children during their 25th Anniversary season. Singers will have the opportunity to learn and grow together while developing musical skills and forming lasting friendships.

Over the years, CCC’s advanced choirs have earned a worldwide reputation for excellence. They were gold medalists at the 2012 World Choir Games and received CityBeat’s Best of 2015 & 2017
Reader Pick for Best Local Vocal Arts Group. In 2015 they were awarded the American Prize in Choral Performance fo Youth Choirs, and in 2016 they were awarded Chorus America’s ASCAP Award for Adventurous Programming. They’ve performed at the Vatican, Carnegie Hall and collaborate regularly with Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Vocal Arts Ensemble, and May Festival. They will travel to Ireland this season, which will add to the many other international festivals the choirs have toured to.

Says Robyn Lana, founder and artistic director, “25 years ago I had a vision for CCC. I had a dream that the program has exceeded in every way, and I am so proud to offer our community a safe space for young singers to learn and explore choral excellence! It’s been a joyful journey!"

To mark its 25th anniversary, the Cincinnati Children’s Choir is performing a series of special concerts, hosting a gala celebration weekend and collaborating with special guests to offer more children the opportunity to be a part of the legacy!

December 2 & 3:  CCM Feast of Carols
